The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has published an article with advice on how to protect personal information before exchanging a mobile phone for a newer model. The FTC recommends the following four steps to protect these devices:
Backup your data.
Remove the SIM and SD cards.
Delete personal information.
Verify the deletion of personal information.
The MC-Networks.com Cybersecurity Team encourages consumers to review the FTC article for additional resources on how to perform each of the suggested steps and see the CISA Council on the proper disposal of electronic devices to obtain more information.
